How to love your feet with MICRO Pedi

How to love your feet with MICRO Pedi

Jan 05

The party season is just about over, with just a few parties to attend and the high heels, long nights and cold weather sure did some damage to my feet. It’s about time I took care of my feet and make them feel loved again. After all, they did serve me well, taking me places and helping me dance, right?

It’s about time for a great pedicure and as I don’t like people touching my feet – I get ticklish- I started looking for the perfect solution for a home pedicure. That’s how I discovered the MICRO Pedi and after reading lots and lots of reviews for this electric hard skin remover it feels like I’ve been using all the wrong ways to do my pedicure, all this time.

I always get patches of hard skin on feet and the worst bumps are usually on the sides of my

Hello 2013!

Hello 2013!

Jan 04

Hello, lovelies!

I’ve been putting aside this blog for the Romanian one, but no more! 2013 is the year of new beginnings and this time, I’m gonna make it happen! Watch out for coming reviews and articles! At least 2 posts a week, this is what I ask of myself, for starters. Doesn’t seem that much, right?

Last year has been hectic for me, but I still managed to walk in 2013 with a pretty nice makeup and wear my very first Chanel lipstick. I’ve been craving for one for a while now… Hopefully, more to come in 2013.

This is my NYE makeup

It’s a shame the fox head at the end of the chain doesn’t show. It’s definitely one of my favorite Christmas present! Doesn’t matter, I’ll show it to you later, in another post. The lipstick is my hubby’s Christmas present for me. Isn’t it nice? It’s not too red, nor too pink, it’s perfect for me! Chanel Rouge Coco in Cambon.

Hope you had a great NYE party and I wish you a happy, happy new year, with lots and lots of happiness and joy!

Review: Liz Earle – Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

Review: Liz Earle – Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

Feb 08

I have been wanted to write this review for a few days now, but my start of the week has been a little bit hectic. Today I am going to tell you my experience with Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, a multi-award winner of the UK brand.

I have tested it for the last 2 weeks and I must say I am impressed with it. It comes in really nice pouch, with a pump-tube of 100 ml and 2 muslin towels. It is the most dense cleanser I have ever tried.  The formula is based on naturally active ingredients and you can definitely smell the eucalyptus in it.

I  normally use 2 pumps of the product for face and neck.

In  the pouch you will find instructions with how to use the cleanser. There are 2 steps you have to follow in order to obtain perfectly clean skin.

Step 1: Massage one or two pumps onto dry skin over face and neck twice a day.

Step 2: Rinse the pure muslin cloth in hand-hot water and wring out before gently wiping off the cream. Rinse and repeat.

Splash face with cool clean water and follow with Instant Boost Skin Tonic and your choice of moisturiser.

I must say that for a cleanser based on natural ingredients, this is the best! Although it is dense, it just glides over the whole face and I had no problem whatsoever with the eye area. I have pretty sensitive skin and usually I have some minor discomfort in the eye area. But Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish does the job without causing any problem. I have tried it with pretty heavy eye-makeup and any trace of that dark shadow that I used just vanished. This was the ultimate testing, as I usually have to insist to get the dark gray and intense blues erased.

I just love the muslin cloth. The starter kit comes with 2 such 100% cotton towels and the best thing about them is that they help to gently exfoliate your skin, as you remove all the makeup and impurities that have been gathered on the face during the day. I washed the towels with gentle soap after each use and they are still spotless. To keep them perfectly clean, just throw them in the washing machine, at 40 degrees, every 2-3 uses.

The skin feels softer and looks brighter afterwards and I have experienced no breakout since I started using this product. It does not dry out the skin and it leaves it feeling plump. It must be the cocoa butter in it, because I almost did not feel the need to apply moisturizer.

If you want to try it, there are different sizes available, if you don’t want to make a commitment from the start. My experience has been great and I will definitely buy this product.

I have read about this cleanser a lot before I had the chance to try it and it definitely rises to the promise. It just makes getting off makeup a whole new experience.

Did anybody else try this cleanser? How do you feel about it?

BB Creams invasion

BB Creams invasion

Jan 29

For the last months I have read a lot about BB Creams. Even high end brands have decided to launch their own, so I guess that this rave about BB Creams has not met its full potential, yet.

BB Cream – Blemish Balm, Blemish Base or Beblesh Balm is a product absolutely loved in Asia, but there is an interest for this product in Europe, too. It was originally formulated in Germany, to help patients after their laser surgery but now it is a wide spread cosmetic product. It comes in different textures and supposedly provides a solution to many skin concerns. At least, this is what Wiki says.

I do not believe in super-products. I haven’t tried a BB Cream yet, but I am tempted, as long as Estee Lauder and Clinique launched their own. So I guess they studied the market and have come to the conclusion that their lines need this type of product.

So here are some BB Creams I found out about and that raised my interest, so far:

Missha BB Creams

They come in various formulations, with SPF starting from 20 and as high as 50, travel sized and limited editions. They have different sites for different countries and international buyers can find them at The BB Cream Shop and Buy BB Cream.

Another BB Cream that raised my interest is SKIN79.

They have a great range of products, covering young to mature skin, from normal to combination and sensitive skin, with brightening formulas and of course, SPF. For North America and Canada, you can buy them from the Official SKIN79 Store and all Europe can buy them from the Spanish Store – no English version of the site, though..

SkinFood is also a brand that I found out about looking for BB Creams.

This range is totally based on ingredients that you can use for food, so that’s where the name of the brand comes from. The selection is nice and every BB Cream has 2 shades, so you can choose the one that most suits your skin type. The official site does not have an online shop, but international buyers can purchase them at The BB Cream Shop and Buy BB Cream.

An now for the high-end cosmetics. Clinique has come with up with their won BB Cream.

They actually market it as a protective anti-age base and has SPF30. As long as Clinique thought of making their own version, I guess that BB Creams really are the next generation of cosmetic products. It comes in 2 shades – for pink toned skin and for golden toned skin. You can probably find it at your Clinique counter right now.

Even Estee Lauder launched a BB Cream. I’m a big fan of Estee Lauder makeup and when I saw that they launched this product I made my decision to look more into it.

Estee Lauder’s version is part of the DayWear range and comes with SPF35. It has antioxidant properties and as Clinique’s version, comes in 2 shades – light and medium. This product is also available at your Estee Lauder counter.

Of course there are various brands out there that make BB Creams. Everybody is talking about them and probably in 2012 we’ll see many drugstore and high-end brands coming up with their own version. I haven’t tried any BB Cream yet, but sure I am tempted. I’m not a fan of heavy foundation, with maximum coverage and at my age ( almost 29 now) I put skincare before makeup.

What’s your opinion on BB Creams?  Have you tried it yet? What brand? Does it make what it says it will?

*Note: Please comment in English. It will help other people that do not speak Romanian to understand your opinion on the subject. Thank you!

Liz Earle – Skincare from UK

Liz Earle – Skincare from UK

In the last few months I have read a lot about rising British cosmetic and skincare brands. Liz Earle caught my attention for the skincare range, because the products sound absolutely amazing!

Right now, I am in search of a really good eye care treatment. I do have a certain age and although I like very much the local brand cream that I am using for the last month. But there is always room for better, isn’t it.

I started searching through the site and I have to admit that the Try-Me Kits for eyes sounds very tempting. Also, as my husband becomes more and more aware of how important skin care is, I plan on giving him a treat, also.

I would get all the products I need for taking care of my eyes, for at least 2 weeks. And I think that this is a fair period of time to know if you love the products or not.

Also there is a great offer on the site right now, perfect for the cold weather in Europe. If you purchase the  3 Liz Earle Skin Essentials – Cleanse & Polish, Instant Boost Skin Tonic and Skin Repair Moisturizer, you get a free  Superskin Concentrate 10ml roller-ball worth £19.00! That’s a complete basic care routine for your skin.

What I like about this brand is that they use naturally active ingredients. Liz Earle brand is definitely on my shopping list for skincare, this year, I have to try some of their products!

Have any of you tried out Liz Earle skincare? I would love to hear about your experience with the brand.

About plastic surgery – my experience

About plastic surgery – my experience

Jan 07

Well, maybe this is a controversial matter for most people, but about 9 years ago, I did it. I had surgery performed on my nose, as it was the one thing that I really did not like about myself.

I got a nose job. Actually, I didn’t perform it on myself, a surgeon did.  Unfortunately, as it was done 9 years ago, I don’t have before pictures. It never even occurred to me to take before pictures, as I just didn’t like my nose and always when a picture of me was taken I used to have an angle for posing, so that the nose didn’t stick out. If I happen to come across a before picture, I promise I will scan it and update the article.

I had an aquiline nose, with a hump, a long tip, that was heading towards the middle of my lips and also a nasty septum deviation. I heard it all, related to my nose. People used to call me names and when I was 19 I just made the decision. 7 days in hospital, a 4 hours surgery and almost 3 months of “natural makeup”, as a nose job makes the tissues around the eyes swallow and you get purple, then blue, green, yellow and …you’re done. :)

The big problem about my nose was that it wasn’t functioning correctly. The septum deviation made me breathe incorrectly and the amount of air going inside my lungs wasn’t enough. I had moments when I felt that I was choking and felt the need to just pump huge amount of air inside my lungs, or else.

The tip of the nose was shortened, the hump was evened and I was very happy about the result. Unfortunately, my cartilage is very soft and on the right side of the nose it repositioned itself a bit rounded, a little bit off. I year later I went to do a little correction, it stayed corrected for about 2 months, then the cartilage went amok again.

I was left with no scars, just a little sensitivity on my mucous membrane and even that went away after a few years. Now my nose is functioning great and I can breathe normally.

Would I do it again? YES, YES, YES! A smaller nose, fit to my face proportions gave me confidence, something that I lacked when I was a teenager. Sure, the surgery wasn’t a breeze. The 7 days spent in hospital weren’t the prettiest moments of my life and my face was swollen for a time, but I am not ashamed of my decision and told everybody that wanted to know what happened to me that I just took care of my nose, it wasn’t a secret!

Maybe for some out there I was brave, but actually, it isn’t bravery, it is just something that I needed and went for it! Any surgery has its risks and I was sedated for 4 hours, as my septum deviation was a pretty nasty job. But I did it for me, not for what others would think of me. As I told you, my nose isn’t just perfect right now, as my body has its imperfections, but I love it the way it is and after the first correction I accepted that this is the way it would look from now on.

I am pro aesthetic surgery, when it is needed. I needed it to have more confidence in myself. There are some people out there that probably do it just in search of perfection, they want that perfect magazine face and body (Photoshopped, by the way!). I don’t encourage them, but I encourage people that truly lack confidence on account of a feature that can be corrected.

The surgery of choice for most women is breast enhancement. And I can definitely understand why most women go for it. At a certain point I considered it for myself, but then I just measured myself and got to the conclusion that I don’t need it. My breast are in perfect harmony with my body. But look at all the tall women that have an A cup. Breast is a sign of femininity, women and men think alike here.

I have come across a gallery of  pictures for breast enlargement, on About Plastic Surgery. Some of the women’s chest, in the before pictures, look like men’s and I cannot imagine the way these women used to think about their bodies. Imagine that perfect dress, that empathizes your best features. What would you think of yourself if in the chest area it would just fall limp around your body? That’s not a pretty picture, is it…

So yes, I can understand why people chose plastic surgery to improve their appearance. I gives them self confidence and they become more able to face the world. It is said that children are cruel, but think of all those adults that judge on account of appearance. Everybody is doing it, not only children.

So before you judge people that improve their features through plastic surgery, think of all the times you judged people based on appearance!

Happy new year – Let’s make 2012 a year to remember

Happy new year – Let’s make 2012 a year to remember

Jan 05

Well, long time no posting, I can almost see the spider webs around the corners of this blog. My work kept me pretty busy and also my Romanian blog. Hopefully, this blog will be populated with more articles, on a weekly basis. Actually, this is my new year’s resolution, to write more, no matter the amount of sleep I get.

2011 has been a hell of a ride for me, with great ups and the lowest downs one can get!

“But through it all, when there was doubt,I ate it up and spit it out.I faced it all and I stood tall; And did it my way” – as the song says. Now 2012 is here to stay at least for 360 more days and I intend to take the best out of it!

My vanity corner is almost finished. I have a white table, a great background 100% handmade by my husband ( did I say that he supports me 100% every time?), a big mirror that I intended to give away and lights. This weekend, I will sort out all my makeup and soon enough I hope that I will be able to do a little video blogging, too. For now in Romanian, as most of my readers are Romanians, but never say never, I might get cocky enough to do some reviews in English, if the products are sold internationally. Hopefully, by the end of the year I will be able to finish translating all the old articles in Romanian…keep your fingers crossed for me!

Right now, I withhold myself from buying more makeup products. As I say now, more using, less buying. I will still be buying haircare, skincare and other needed products and I am still able to receive gifts, but no more makeup until the first of March ( may God have mercy on my wallet on the first official day of spring, I just hope I won’t get trigger happy on my card or my Paypal account).

Do brushes count as makeup products? There is a 10% off code for Sigma makeup brushes available all January and…. I crave for the Synthetic Sigmax Duo since Black Friday and this time…I will totally get it! The Small Tapered Blending E45 is temporarily out of stock … This is another item on my list, as I love my E40 Blending brush.

You can take advantage of the 10% off Sigma code all January. Just click on the banner on the right of the blog and enter code 0112XJML at checkout.

In 2012, I want to take really good care of my skin, first of all. Makeup is fun, but it isn’t meant just for covering up problems. Problems should be sold, not hidden under the rug!

Until next time, have a great 2012! It’s time for following dreams and believing in yourself!

Love-hate relationship

Love-hate relationship

This post will be a total rant….about shoes.

Last week-end I have been invited to a wedding – by best friend wedding, but this is not he issue, the shoes were ( and still are, the issue). I absolutely love high heel shoes, I become ecstatic in front of a nice pair of shoes, I imagine outfits built around shoes, but…I swear they are pure torture sometimes.

I own a very nice pair of green shoes for more than 6 years now. I just love the color, the design, I also have the matching clutch, but each time I wear them I promise myself that it will be the last time, that I would never wear them again. Guess what…it’s like a bad relationship, I always go back to them, because they practically seduce me every time I see them, again and again.

And then, at the end of the ball, just like Cinderella, they swipe me off my aching feet…I love them for about 20 minutes, and after that, the torture begins. The little straps on the side of each shoes just gets into my little toe and the pain almost makes me limp.

Of course I stand up straight and do not limp, as any lady would do, but each time nobody ( except my

It has been a while since I wrote on the blog. In the meantime, summertime is over, autumn is coming and so are the latest makeup and cosmetic collection.

Today I want to show you the manicures of the past month.

First of all, I fell in love with holographic nail polishes. My first holo nail polish is from Sally Hansen and it is called Night Lights, from the Xtreme Wear Collection.

In the sunlight, it looks just like a normal glittery nail polish, but in artificial light, all the beauty is revealed. It looks great also over colored nail polish, because it is a bit transparent and needs 3 coats for full coverage. When I had it on, I just couldn’t get my eyes off my nails.

Another nail polish that I tried is from Sephora. I just love the tiny bottles of polish they carry. I loved
